Hi everyone,
I went to Mr Curry located at The Central (alight at Clark Quay MRT station) on 22 oct (fri). There was only one family in the store when my bf and I went in at about 4.30pm. There is only one waiter that is standing by. I liked that it is not crowded and the decor of the store was cozy.
For those who haven't seen Mr Curry, it is a store that claims to specialise in Japanese curry and sweet stuff.
The menu has a lot of variety ranging from rice, omelette rice, spaghetti, pizza etc. that has curry going with it. Sweet stuff ranging from desserts, stick cakes, dessert drinks and other beverages. The menu can be found online if you are interested. (But it seems a little outdated) This is the link: http://www.waraku.com.sg/index.aspx
We tried 2 dishes (Hokkaido curry ramen and Pork curry rice) and 1 drink (Melon float).
If you order the curry rice, there are four types of curry sauces to choose from: original sauce, red sauce (the waiter said tomato is part of the ingredients), black sauce (I guess fish is part of the ingredients), white sauce (the waiter mentioned milk is part of the ingredients). You can select from three levels of spicyness - non-spicy to more spicy.
My review:
Hokkaido curry ramen - I love the mixture of ingredients - half of a hard boiled egg, some crabmeat, some salmon, a scallop, three slices of beancurd skin. I know the ingredients are meant to be in small portions, but I would really appreciate if there are at least more crabmeat. The curry sauce has a little bitterness to it. To be honest, the curry ramen was a little below expectations. But overall, it was not too bad. I give it 3.5/5.
Pork curry rice - This dish comes with rice, a bowl of pork curry and some salads. This is the second time I ate it. The first time I chose the non-spicy curry sauce. This time, I ate a little more spicy sauce. I would say it tastes better than the non-spicy one. My general take on it is that the curry sauce is a bit little (slightly more curry sauce will be better). For those who don't like fats, some slices of pork contains some fats. Overall I rate it 3.5/5.
Melon float - I love honeydew. Thus I tried my luck by ordering the melon float. I would say it doesn't taste like honeydew. I give it 2.5/5.
Picture speaks a thousand words. These are two pictures we took:
