Review of Sim City Societies (PC game)

Hi all,

As promised I will write more about Sim City Societies after playing it.

I am surprised to find out that I can play for hours (unlike Sim City 3000 - 1 hour limited duration). After playing for many hours, I realised that it is a demo game because I can only build up to 100 buildings. But nevermind, I can play for hours (about four hours, depending how fast you play) to build that many buildings.

The rules of the game is relatively similar to previous versions of Sim City. Only now you can zoom in much more (to see the citizens in the city and also click on them) and Sim City Societies has more buildings such as work places (bank etc.), entertainment and shopping venues. There are also 6 societal values which you can play about to create characteristics for your city - prosperity, productivity, spirituality, creativity, authority, and knowledge. You can focus on all or any of the societal values for your city.

You may love or hate this game depending how you see or play it. If you have the time, you may like to try downloading the demo game (the link is in my previous blog post).

P.S. After downloading Sim City Societies, I would recommend that you play the tutorial to familiarise yourself with the game. =)

Jay Chou The Era 2010 World Tour in Singapore!

Hi all,

Jay Chou's concert 2010 in Singapore just ended! Awww! It lasted for 3 days, 23, 24 and 25 july 2010.

For those who didn't go for his concert, you can catch a 6 minute clip on Xin Msn. I did! This is the video link for your convenience: http://video.xin.msn.com/watch/video/jay-chou-the-era-2010-world-tour-in-singapore-%E5%91%A8%E6%9D%B0%E4%BC%A6%E8%B6%85%E6%97%B6%E4%BB%A3%E6%BC%94%E5%94%B1%E4%BC%9A2010/tnsfxb41

Note there might be an ad before the actual clip.

I have also posted a very nice video. Jolin Tsai appears at Jay Chou The era concert in Taipei. They danced together! Nice! I embed the video here:

S.H.E going Solo (but won't disband)

Hi all, =)

I like S.H.E especially Hebe. I was free so I went to youtube trying to see if there are any nice videos on Hebe. I saw a video showing S.H.E revealing that Hebe will be releasing her own solo album!

Then I went google to search for confirmation. There are not much news on this. However, I managed to gather that S.H.E would go solo - Selina will focus more on hosting, Hebe focus more on singing and Ella more on acting. However, S.H.E will not disband, their group will remain as one. (It's a pity if they were going to disband)

I saw on a blog that Hebe's solo album will most probably be postponed to next year (2011). This is a smart move because they just released their group S.H.E album, SHERO. This leaves Hebe and her company more time to release a good album.

Anyway, while searching for videos on Hebe on youtube, I found a really nice video. A compilation of clips of Hebe. This is the part 2. I find it nicer than part 1. But part 1 is really nice too. Go youtube and see if you want. Really very nice!

Credits to the person who did up the video! Claps with two hands! If you are a fan (or not), watch this video! You will not regret. You will be touched to see Hebe's music journey and how talented she is. Below is the embed video (the link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDaz_94Xsk8&feature=related):

Marina Bay Sands Singapore

Hi guys,

Marina Bay Sands's official opening is on 27 April 2010. It is a five-star Singapore hotel with 55 storeys. It has 3 towers. I heard a lot of people are interested in its Skypark, which is located on top of Marina Bay Sands, 57th floor.

My parents went to Marina Bay Sands for a 1 night stay on 16 July 2010. So I decide to tag along and tour around for the day.

We booked in quite late in the day, about 4.30pm. We went to our hotel room, located on the 32th storey of Tower 3. After dropping the bags, we went out for a tour at the hotel Skypark.

Hotel guests are only allowed to visit a part of the Skypark, the part with the Swimming Pool facility. We are given two hotel room cards. Each card is entitled for 1 guest (who is not staying over) to enter. Lucky me! For the observation deck on the Skypark, there is a fee of $20 per person. Anyway, this is good enough because non-hotel guests cannot use the Swimming Pool. The view on top is superb! Imagine swimming on the 57th storey. It feels like you are on the top of the world!

Anyway, I didn't swim because I was in a rush (sad!), I had to leave about 6pm. So the plan was my parents will swim at 8pm (the Skypark Swimming Pool closes at 10pm) when I leave. I went to tour the Shopping Mall (The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands) and have afternoon tea with my parents. Overall, it was a very fun day! Cheers!

Guys, you should try visiting Marina Bay Sands and spending some time with your family too!!

I took some pictures of my Marina Bay Sands "tour" (see below).

Sim City Fans! Alert!

Hi all, =)

I am a Sim City fan! I played the oldest Sim City version (Sim City), I think more than 10 years ago. I really liked it!

So recently, I tried to relive my good memories by finding free Sim City demos online. I managed to find a free Sim City version - Sim City 3000 (the earlier version is Sim City 2000). Try out the game! It is located at: http://www.brothersoft.com/games/sim-city-3000.html

You can download directly from this link or you can go google to find other websites.

Anyway I played Sim City 3000 4-5 times after I downloaded it. I think you can play this free version unlimited times. However, each demo only lasts for 60 minutes (if I am not wrong). So within this 60 minutes, make use of time wisely! Try and error to see how you can build the best Sim City! To me, a negative thing about Sim City 3000 demo is you can't save at all! What can you expect from a free demo?! It's worth playing if you are a fan!

By the way, as I am writing, I am in the midst of downloading another free Sim City version - Sim City Societies! More about it after I started playing! I can't wait! For players who cannot wait, here is the link to download: http://download.cnet.com/SimCity-Societies-demo/3000-7480_4-10853476.html?tag=mncol

Bird Nest!

Hi all, =)

I drunk bird nest today! My mum cooked for our family. Haha.

It's very special bird nest drink (actually it is in a jelly form). My mum added logans into the birdnest to cook. Please also add red dates to make it taste nicer! Then she placed it into the fridge to transform it into jelly form.

When served, she let me tried the original taste, then she poured soya bean milk into the bird nest drink! Actually tasted nicer! Depending on what is your preference.

Haha it's quite a nice taste! Must try! Special bird nest Jelly!

If you want to find out more, please leave down your comments. =)

Exercise by travelling

Hi all,

I want to share this "travel" tip with you.

To save money and to keep fit, I travel on my legs from the Train station to my home. It's about 10 - 15 minutes walk.

I found a calculator online that calculates the calories burned in 10 minutes. (source: http://walking.about.com/library/cal/uccalc2.htm)

It takes note of the minutes I spent walking, my weight and my pace. I burned about 20 Calories. Note 22 calories = 1/2 Cup strawberries

1 mile is about 1.6km. And if you want to know eg: how far is the Train station to your home, you may visit www.onemap.sg. This is a really good website of Singapore map. I strongly recommend it! It takes some time to get used to it. But it's very useful, you can zoom in to see the bus numbers at the bus stops.

Exercise today by travelling to keep fit!!

P.S. And guess how much I save from walking? According to SBS website, it states for me about 70 cents for travelling one bus stop. Imagine how much I can save every week (eg: 5 days) = $3.50. Over 4 weeks, you can save $14!! Great?!
